中華書局是一家歷史悠久的文化機構，1912年在上海成立，1927年設立香港分局，1988年在香港註冊成立中華書局（香港）有限公司，成為 聯合出版（集團）有限公司 屬下成員公司之一。

多年的發展中，本局一直秉承「弘揚中華文化，普及民智教育」的創局宗旨，為全球華文讀者出版語言、歷史、文學、哲學、商管、心理勵志等各類優質圖書。近年，我們更銳意開發新的書種，傾力展現經典古籍的現代魅力，並著力介紹本土歷史及當代中國國情，務求令讀者更了解香港和華夏文明之傳承。

時至今日，香港中華書局已發展成為一家綜合性及多元化的出版文化機構，經營編輯出版、代理發行、門市零售等各種業務。附屬機構包括中原出版社、開明書店及非凡出版。

在推動學術文化方面，中華書局一如既往，不遺餘力，希望在推動中華文化的事業中，貢獻一點力量。

Chung Hwa Book Co. (H.K.) Ltd. (Chung Hwa), a well-known publisher and retailing enterprise was first set up in Shanghai in 1912, and then opened its Hong Kong branch in 1927. In 1988, it formally registered to become Chung Hwa Book Company (Hong Kong) Ltd. in Hong Kong and became one of the first publishing subsidiaries of the Sino United Publishing Group.

With the motto of “Promoting the Chinese culture and enlightening the general public”, a wide variety of publications are produced, with books on Chinese history and culture, classical works of literature and philosophy, essays on contemporary China, dictionaries and reference books being the core subjects. Books on business management, politics and religion, children's books and self-improvement are published as subsidiary line.

In the recent years, Chung Hwa explored on the way to a multi-enterprise and made new contribution to carrying forward and popularizing the prestigious Chinese culture by keeping pace with new modes of reading brought by the modern technology - we have produced electronic publications in such areas as contemporary China and modern interpretation of classical works. Our solid foundation in publishing has been laid for new-style publishing for the global Chinese-reading market in this new era.
